A very close Plate final required extra time to separate the teams, with the Swan & Railway emerging victorious against the Griffin. |

In the main event of the evening, the Alexandra had a slightly more comfortable win against the Tiviot to win the Dave Badley Cup. |

The Alexandra becomes only the third team in quiz league history to complete a league-and-cup double, the feat having been achieved |

first by The Blossoms (1989–90) and then twice by all-conquering Chunky (2001–02, 2007–08). |

Presentation Night |

The end-of-season Presentation Night is on Thursday 15 May at Our Lady’s Social Club, Flint Street, Shaw Heath. Jamie Evans (Griffin) |

has very kindly offered to present the quiz, which will start at 8.30 p.m. prompt. As always it would be good to see as many teams as |
|
possible in attendance. Please remember to bring a raffle prize. There will be a £1 per person entry fee and guest teams are welcome. |
|
Attendees should be aware that the closure of the Edgeley roundabout may necessitate a little extra travelling time. Parking outside the club |
|
is rather limited, so you may need to use the (still open) car park at the top of Mercian Way. |

At only their 32nd attempt the Alexandra team have been crowned League Champions after their win against HMRUFC last night. The Alex |
|
shared the 2017 title in a three-way tie with Tiviot and Smart Italics, but this is their first ever outright win. The Swan & Railway are this |
|
season’s runners-up by just one point, whilst the Tiviot pipped Smart Alex for third place by the same margin. |
